Sephora & Meta
AR Makeup Try-On Shopping Experience
During my time as EP of Creative Technology at Jam3, I oversaw our R&D practice. Among other things, we’d developed a fast prototype for an AR makeup try-on experience that let you pucker your lips to change lipstick shades in realtime. We brought it to Meta, who then worked to partner us with Sephora for a product launch, and we were off to the races. Alongside other partners, we helped create a first of its kind makeup try-on experience for the Sephora app. The experience allowed customers to try on and then purchase makeup from several pre-conceived makeup looks, all within the app, which helped push Sephora’s in app conversion rate to new limits.
This project then led to many other AR try-on experiences via Facebook’s Spark AR platform, with fashion and beauty clients like Dior, Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Warby Parker and others. The AR masks became a fairly plug and play source of revenue for Jam3 due to the ease of use of Spark AR, although each experience was unique and bespoke in its own way.
